Review on Enhance Your Dashcam Experience with BlackVue CM100 LTE: External ๐Ÿ“ธ 4G LTE Module & Cloud Connectivity for DR900X and DR750X Dashcams by Tristan Graham

But it works. About dashcams

Let me start by saying that BlackVue camera systems are arguably the best dashcams ever made, period. However, this accessory is required for the new cameras of the "X" series. to connect to the cloud and I have the 900X which is the top of the range. The only US carriers that work with it are Sprint/T-Mobile or AT&T. Verizon won't work. Tariff plans of all other road operators for a reasonable amount of data. The cheapest is T-Mobile at $10 per month for a 2GB prepaid plan and a one-time fee of $10 to purchase a SIM card. This solution didn't work for me. The camera was constantly "clapping" and turning off and on many times, day and night. I believe this is due to poor T-Mobile coverage in my area. The T-Mobile plan also only has 2GB per month (switches you off when you're out) and that's barely enough to last you a whole month of very light remote connection usage. If you want to check your camera regularly, 2GB is not enough. Since I already have a Verizon account on my phone, I instead added a Verizon Wi-Fi hotspot puck that I plugged into the USB port. on the B124-X battery which I bought with the camera and used the WIFI cloud option on the camera instead of this 4G LTE accessory. Now it works great and I get unlimited data (15GB LTE, then 600kbps unlimited, after that it resets monthly) and only costs 10$/month. The upside of this approach is that you have a dedicated WiFi network in your car that you can use with other devices. That being said, I took three stars off what was supposed to be a perfect rating: one minus star because the system must support Verizon (and other carriers with similar frequencies), another minus star because these accessories cost more than buying "washers". for WIFI and finally deducted the third star because this functionality had to be built into the camera itself like some of the other smaller BlackVue camera models. How difficult would it be to put a sim chip in the camera itself instead of this external tangle of cables? To be fair, your mileage may vary depending on T-Mobile or using other non-Verizon (or global) carriers in your area, but that didn't work for me. Unfortunately, given that you can use EVERY cellular network in the world via a cheaper (and cleaner) 4G/5G WiFi hotspot and the added benefit of dedicated WiFi Internet, I'm forced to give this device only 2 stars. and recommend you to take the "puck" path instead. I hope this review helps you make a more informed decision in your own tuning situation.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • The cable is shorter than other models
