First of all, I am NOT a novice when it comes to assembly. My excitement upon opening the box quickly turned to disappointment when I pulled out the parts and instructions to find some of the nuts were missing. So I had to look around the house and garage for suitable ones. At that moment I almost threw it in the box and never returned it, but I'm stubborn. Then, in the first step of mounting the back panel to the side panel, the screws didn't go through the drilled holes. So I had to take a drill and drill to make all the holes big enough for the screws. When I was finished it took just under 3 hours to assemble and only time will tell if the plastic egg tray will hold up. It could be good. I think it will be a hassle to clean if it gets dirty inside depending on how it's built. My OTHER folding birdhouse is MUCH BETTER. This is the best nest box I've bought from the manufacturer's website, bestnestbox.com. I have a medium sized reversible bird house from them and the construction, instructions etc were perfect for it. It's VERY DURABLE, great design, easy to keep clean, MADE in the USA. Choose the best nest box for your nest box. I know the best bird box is more expensive, but just do it and you'll thank me.
