Review on Upgraded Pair of 5.25-Inch Car Sound Speakers by Peter Joseph

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Yes they work but. MEH

So after reading other reviews here on Revain I decided to give these speakers a try. I didn't want my brain to explode, but I was looking forward to something better than the 20-year-old speakers that were completely dry in my existing car. And that's exactly what I got. The speakers are better than the ones I had. Can't really complain for the money to be honest, but these speakers aren't ideal for any kind of LOUD music. The mids SHOW at any significant load. The basic performance is practically zero, but in combination with a subwoofer they really aren't that bad. I have no idea how Pyle rates his speakers but... 200 watts is a total farce. The magnet on each speaker is SMALL. The 20 year old Pioneers that came with my car had much larger magnets. Not that magnets are the whole story, but shish. When I opened these new ones out of the box I started to worry about the size of the magnet. Finally, these speakers can be loud when paired with an amp, but don't expect too much sonic clarity, particularly in the midrange. You'd think a 3-way speaker would have a decent midrange, but that's not the case. Everything is crumpled and requires equalization of the central band. If you have a 5-band equalizer you can get away with it, but anything else will be limited in terms of audio output. When I install them in the front of my car (under the dashboard), the 3-way design makes them stand out. . A LOT OF. So keep that in mind when installing them in a dashboard. They were fine diameter wise, but I had to wedge the plastic dashboard and grille firmly to accommodate the speakers, and even then they bulged out. Remember. So three stars for these guys because they do what you want for the money but you throw them away after some use. They saved me from my car sound problems and also my wife's financial problems, but honestly it's better to save another $40 and spend that money on better speakers.
