I bought this because I was putting new tires on rims I had just painted and wanted to take every precaution not to scratch them to avoid. My tire changer sometimes leaves marks on aluminum rims and I was hoping this material would help 'lube' the wheel to remove scratches. It's an odd consistency and a little difficult to apply. Once you put it on the tire it works fine, but I really don't think it was worth the extra effort compared to good old morning dish soap and water. I thought it would look like grease or petroleum jelly, but it's not. I can't even think of anything to compare it to and help someone understand what it's like to apply.
