Convenient but difficult to be precise. Roller Sticks

I bought one of these about 2 years ago and only use it occasionally and it's a handy tool for the occasional carpenter to keep his chisels and planer knives sharp enough. A friend brought over a dozen chisels last week, and after working with a few I noticed the roller was binding and I was digging a flat spot on it. I suspect sand has gotten in from sharpening and I RECOMMEND cleaning it with a suitable spray or paint thinner and oiling it regularly. (Then blot off any excess oil so it doesn't attract any more.) I find it difficult to "balance" narrow chisels when running them across a diamond stone. It's like driving a wheelbarrow and she wants to bend over onto the narrow roll, although I struggle to run my extra fingers over the rock/table to keep it straight. Dual roles would be better. As others have pointed out, one side of the bit's groove is straight and the other side is slightly curved, making it difficult to know where to insert it. In addition, the locking screw gets stuck when the jaws for the planer knives open.
