I figured someone broke it one day when I got to work and it wouldn't turn on. Changed the battery and everything worked. Recalibration capability and NSF certification were required for use on the job. I hate to say my co-workers always abuse this thing and I always threaten to take it home as I paid for it out of my own pocket but I dropped this thing in the fryer. two weeks ago and thought it was over. Wiped with a rag, powered on and recalibrated. Was shocked and very thankful it still works! Every other thermometer falls and breaks, or the steam from a fryer destroys the display. It cost money.
