I didn't have the original and bought this as a cheap alternative. With his help I was able to completely rebuild my 29" mountain bike rear wheel and had no problems. I did my own research to find spokes and the process. Tension readings match what is really necessary. As far as I can tell it seemed the reading also tightens the wheel about right, although I can't be sure of its accuracy.I've never assembled a wheel before, but this tool helped a lot (was a must).Together with the Parktools online tension tracker you can create a bicycle wheel rebuild yourself.Great value for money, you don't have to spend twice as much for an original.
