When I saw this I thought it was a joke but I was desperate and wanted to try everything. To my amazement and happiness, it works GREAT! This doesn't eliminate algae, but it drastically reduces it to an acceptable level and I can keep my duck pond clean and clear. There are some random algae that will grow over the course of a day or so, but that's nothing compared to the total disaster it was before I added it to my pond. In front of these bales, the water was murky and stained and overgrown with green algae that filled my filter and every drop of water. Nothing I've done has made a difference. After having these pads in the water for 3 weeks I finally noticed a dramatic improvement. Now my pond is clean, beautiful and works great. I recommend these pads for natural pond maintenance in addition to regular filter media (I use the "skippy filter" method).
