I was completely surprised. They work well to keep my small pond always clean. However, I wish they were a little less expensive. But can't really complain, I take them out when they sink to the bottom, land and use them many times. In the end, they degrade so much that little of them remains. Will keep buying them as long as I have a pond.

I have a 2000 carp pond and I put 4 balls in it but the pond was very turbid. For the first three weeks they seemed to be cleaning up the pond and sinking deeper and deeper into the water until one Sunday they became visible, they must have sunk to the bottom but the water was still too muddy to see them. When I saw this I thought it was a joke but I was desperate and wanted to try everything. To my amazement and happiness, it works GREAT! This doesn't eliminate algae, but it drastically reduces it to an acceptable level and I can keep my duck pond clean and clear. There are some random algae that will grow over the course of a day or so, but that's nothing compared to the total disaster it was before I added it to my pond.
