I purchased this frame so that I coulod add a wire across the back of the 2 hardware hooks. The hooks slide over the backing and are removable. You can place two on the long sides for a portrait layout. However you can not place one on each short side for a landscape layout. One end of the backing is beveled under neath. When hardware is added ot that side, the backing will no longer fit in the frame. If forced, it can not be removed and will bend or break all together. If you are a photographer or artist wanting to modify these for a gallery hanging or show that requires a landscape oriented wire, this is not going to work.
