I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by this little guy. I was looking for a sheetfed scanner to archive about 30 bank boxes of files for my law firm. The incredibly low price of this machine finally got me to try it. I was very happy with it. So far we have scanned just over 46,000 sheets. Yes, you read it right. This was done in less than 3 weeks. I've found that a competent operator can get this little guy to knock over 2 full boxes in an 8 hour work day. I was concerned about the speed of the scan as I was only using a 700MHz P3 laptop. I would estimate the speed at 30 pages per minute with this setting. I have to admit that with its diminutive size and dimensions, I thought it was more of a toy than a useful office gadget. I am on the mend. The one button operation and the included software that creates sequentially numbered PDF files with any name you want is amazing. It suffers from paper jams, although keep in mind that I've scanned documents that were up to four years old, stapled together and stuffed in a box for that time. My operator worked out a fairly laborious process of removing the staples, folding the corners against their crease, and then turning the pages over to separate them. One of the many great features of the included software is that it displays an image of the last page scanned before the paper jam occurred. This made it possible to find the correct next page and restart with a single click. Clearing paper jams is easy too - there is a single button that keeps the feeder mechanism closed. The scanner also creates color images, so the photos are saved in my files as well. I've had two opportunities to use stock footage before and it was easy to find and print the required images using the included Adobe Acrobat (v.6) standard. I'm really impressed with the amount of paper this little guy moves. The software is intuitive, the hardware simple. I cannot recommend this enough for the average office. I look forward to using this scanner for many years to come. This requires replacing the pickup roller (it costs about $10) every 50,000 images and another roller every 100,000 images (other consumables cost about $20). Hardware can only do as much work as it can handle. The color convinced me.
