Okay, it's sticky! I don't know what happened to the sticky parka because mine fell off a couple of times. If it falls off, have fun removing lint and dirt! The shaft is of the worst design and often SEEMS like it is locked onto the detector BUT IT IS NOT! If you don't want your $600 detector to fall on the floor, check every time you fix it there. It's like it's the ONLY Passport MAX mount, so you don't have a choice. It's also nearly impossible to plug and unplug the device once properly positioned on the windshield. The workaround is to tilt the stem down, block the detector, then install it and tighten the set screw. Vice versa to solve. In fact, everything related to the Passport MAX is rubbish, including the non-existent customer service BUT the Passport MAX itself picks up signals way earlier than any other detector I've seen. You'll wonder why it worked until you hit a hill, turn a corner, or point your binoculars in a straight path! Drive carefully!
