I have had this for several years now and always have it in my car. I haven't used it with a heavy camera/lens but I use it on my small camera all the time. I also bought a phone adapter for it and use it to stabilize my phone when I don't have a camera handy like when the sunset looks nice and I'm losing daylight so I don't want to drive home for a camera but I do really want to get the best shot. Update: After 3 years the top is getting a little wobbly but given how cheap it was and the fact that I just threw it away. in the back seat and never put it in a bag or anything, it was worth the $12 I spent.
