Just like the price. The rack is loose. A drop of Loctite and tightening the screws will fix it. The big problem was that the rosette on which the dial is mounted was crooked and obscuring the "0β line, making it impossible to read the scale accurately. Since I didn't want to remove the dial to align the plate, I filed the edge of the "reading" until it lined up with the "0" line. The internal gauge feet were spaced 0.007 inches at the "0" mark, so a little sensible tapping with a hammer restored them. If you don't have the skills to get this caliper working properly, spend a few bucks more and buy a good one. I don't trust them for shop use so they are included in my field kit.
