Review on 🌊 Enhanced BetterLink WiFi Smart Water Leak Sensor with App Alert and Alarm - Ideal for Basements, Kitchens, Laundries, Bathrooms, and Aquariums by Jared Allred

Virtually useless unless you buy add-ons; problematic Alexa and IFTTT integration

This water leak detector was a failure from the start. Firstly, it was a bit tricky to set up as the instructions that came with the sensor don't exactly match what's going on in the Smart Life app. I think the app has probably been updated since the instructions were printed and they haven't been revised. Once set up, I followed the prompts to pair it with Alexa and thought it would be nice to receive a notification from Alexa when the sensor detects a leak. However, when you try to set up Alexa, it stops at a screen saying you need to update the app. But this is the latest app on the App Store. No problem, I thought. I will set up the notification via IFTTT. So everything was going fine until I got an error message on the second photo. IFTTT options are not available for this specific device. Good. You can set the sensor to notify you via text, but you must BUY the add-on to do so. Well, just getting a push notification from the app to your phone would be better than nothing. So I put the device in the sink and slowly started to fill it with water. As the water reached the block, it started flashing and beeping. But there is no push message. When I went to the app it didn't even show that the device was working. So if you only have this device and no add-ons, the notifications are just an alarm clock that isn't loud enough to be heard outside of the room it's in. . It also pairs with Google Home to be honest, but since I don't have any Google Home products I wasn't able to try it.
