At the near end, there is good macro and sharpness. Evidently, manual mode is required for both aperture and focus while shooting with this cropped glass. The benefits over the standard whale on P + AF are not immediately apparent. When I shoot in manual mode with MF and the weather is better, I might revise the rating. Unhappy with the investment in the interim. Additionally, everyone claims that the lens is brittle and can break even while not in use.
