LOUD is obviously a relative term because I think this timer has a LOW alarm. I was so disappointed and angry when I received my timers in the mail. (I bought three.) A class action lawsuit should be brought against the manufacturer claiming that this timer rings LOUD. Yes, I wear hearing aids, but with corrected hearing I can hear fairly well, but unless I'm within 10 feet of this timer it's barely audible in a quiet room. FAINT is how I would describe it. I know without my hearing aids I wouldn't have heard it from the next room like my old hand (who passed away). I'm returning all three timers I bought as they all ring weakly so this isn't the only one. If you want a working timer, buy one or any old one at Wal-Mart, but if you want a loud chime, don't buy this one!
