Bought 2 of these to make tea on a trip. The double voltage allows us to connect it to 120 volt sockets to obtain 300 watts of heating power or to 240 volt sockets to obtain 1200 watts of heating power. As with other devices, it always works great, but the test is always its durability. We took a device for a trip to Europe, where the voltage is 240 volts. We used the included adapter for European sockets. The water heater stopped working a few days into our trip so we're now tossing it in the trash where it belongs. We are disappointed with this purchase.
