I've looked at cheaper desktop reverse osmosis systems but when I visited their websites the only way to contact their support was via live chat and it was always offline. This manufacturer has a working phone number and useful information. I ordered the RO with a box to make it easier to keep clean. The output line is just a hose with a red cap. I keep the hose in a plastic bag to keep it clean. A simple hose outlet is great for me because I use my reverse osmosis system to fill a 5 gallon bottle with an electric pump. The performance of the pump is significantly higher than that of a reverse osmosis system. From there I fill my 1 gallon humidifier. In winter, humidifiers use about 4 liters per day. I've had reverse osmosis systems under sinks, but never again. Crawling under the sink to service the system is a big mess (water all over the sink and floor) and a pain in the neck and back.
