No assembly instructions and carriage bolt interferes with locking mechanism

There are no instructions on the back of the box other than a drawing that is difficult to understand. I'm no DIY wizard, but it shouldn't be that hard. I figured out how to install it and drill holes and drive in the carriage bolts (note everyone - the head of the carriage bolt should be on the outside of the railing, facing the unfortunate thief, and the latch is on the inside). You can thread a nut onto a carriage bolt by hand, but it's difficult to tighten with anything other than pliers. Okay, finally tighten and secure (ignoring the fact that the pliers scratched the black studs/screws/latches, I just painted them with a marker). Then I have to slide the deadbolt into the locked position, which is actually impossible because the bottom of the carriage bolt sticks out too far, preventing the deadbolt from sliding. Unbelievable! I did my best to slide the latch back a bit to disengage the latch, but it got little better. Wouldn't recommend this product at all.
