Disappointed with the product

According to the specs, this device is 10.5 inches long. I don't understand what happened when I received this. It's not even 6.5 inches long. Disappointed with the product.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Hard to say

Sturdy Latch: Hardware

I have used these latches on barn doors as they are generally tamper resistant when using carriage bolts. square bolt. If I used the screws that came with it, anyone with a Phillips head screwdriver could remove the receiver and pry the latch open.

Pros
  • Decent Performance
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Wrong size of the shutter receiver

The size of the shutter receiver is the same as another larger trap. This may not be an issue in some setups, but in our case the extra clearance precludes a secure lock. :( Of course I didn't notice until we had it fully installed so I guess I can't go back. Otherwise good quality for the price but not great. :)

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Nothing here

Quality snap and bolt product

Extremely well made and finished. Good mounting material included. I set it up so that it rattles a bit in the wind. However, this slightly oversized holder allows for some play when aligning the holder with the screw stroke during installation. never mind Definitely recommend!

  • Excellent overall performance

photos are deceiving.

I thought it was heavier than it is. I wanted to add one on the left side of the metal revolving door of the two car garage. That one in there is at least twice as thick as the tabs the bolt slides into and the padlock tabs. I haven't installed it. Anyone can easily twist a rim lock and break the tab that the lock goes through. Slowing someone down might be better than nothing. I have to find something better.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • No performance

Wrong latches, bad instructions

I put a latch on the double swing doors. The main body and breech cover are well made, so I gave it two stars instead of one. BUT plain Phillips head screws are supplied for the latch cover when the square holes in the cover are clearly intended for carriage bolts as supplied for the main latch body. Exposed Phillips screws break any blockage as they can be easily removed; Carriage bolts with a nut inside would be MUCH more secure. The instructions call for 1 inch from the door edge on the main

Missing bolts and mating connectors

There are 6 holes in this latch and bracket (4 square holes for carriage bolts in the lock, 2 round holes apparently for screws in the bracket) but only 2 carriage bolts and 2 screws. Screws MUST NOT be used for the bracket as the latch can easily be broken by simply removing the 2 screws which are not tamper evident or removing in any way. The hasp must be held in place with carriage bolts which cannot be removed without access to the nuts on the inside of the gate/door, but the holes in the…

No assembly instructions and carriage bolt interferes with locking mechanism

There are no instructions on the back of the box other than a drawing that is difficult to understand. I'm no DIY wizard, but it shouldn't be that hard. I figured out how to install it and drill holes and drive in the carriage bolts (note everyone - the head of the carriage bolt should be on the outside of the railing, facing the unfortunate thief, and the latch is on the inside). You can thread a nut onto a carriage bolt by hand, but it's difficult to tighten with anything other than pliers…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
