Review on Xtenzi Navigation Antenna Compatible Pioneer by Bradly Illu

Used on a Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX head unit in a 2013 Scion FR-S. The instructions for this antenna appear to have been copied/pasted from the Pioneer installation manual with a few exceptions. Basically it works, but not without problems. First, the original GPS antenna that comes with the Pioneer radio comes with a "metal strap". I didn't buy the radio new so I don't know exactly what this tape looks like (and I don't know exactly how Pioneer's GPS antenna works) but I can assume the "metal tape" on one is sticky side, and it's magnetic. The base of the GPS antenna is also magnetic. It's also a pretty strong magnet. I assume you tape metal tape over something that isn't magnetic so the GPS antenna can be attached anywhere. In other words, the tape allows you to "create a magnetic surface anywhere," which is good because I'm having a hard time figuring out where else to put it. glimpse of the sky but also a sort of magnetic place to hold it in place. Well, the dashboard, pillars, and back of my car are covered in plastic or fabric, so that's a problem. I think I will consider buying this metal band separately. Another problem is that the antenna connector does not fully seat in the Pioneer radio connector. I pushed the fork a lot harder than I should have. I've tried looking very closely to see the problem, but it's very difficult to see. I ended up sticking a small push pin into the very center hole of the antenna connector to open it up a bit. This allowed me to insert the clip just far enough into the radio that it clicked. It seems to work decent enough to fool the radio, so I guess that's the point.
