I bought this as a cabinet for gem cabochons as I am a blacksmith/metal jeweler. I put sticky velor inside the drawers to keep the gems in place when the drawers are opened and closed. When applying the velour, I kept getting splinters from the wooden partitions and the edges of the compartments. I also noticed that they don't slide in and out smoothly. I put the velor in 2 drawers and put a lot of splinters in there with my fingers, I sanded all the drawers and compartment dividers. Then I apply beeswax paste to the sides and any compartment dividers. That was a lot more work than I expected for an item marked as finished! If I buy more of these cabinets in the future I will sand them first and then spray polyurethane. to seal the wood and prevent it from splintering! The partitions are made of chipboard and the drawers and cabinets appear solid but very thin. They appear solid but I would consider this an unfinished art cabinet or poor workmanship as a finished product.
