I have a 75 pound Doberman who is athletic and has a LOT of energy to burn. I got this pack in hopes that this would be a good way for her to not only carry her own items for hikes and long walks, but also as a way to add a little weight to her in order to tire her out faster. Dobermans are also apart of the "Working Class" breed and having a "job" can really also help with behavioral issues, which I've found to be true so far. After having this pack for a better of about 6 months I have to say I've been really impressed with it. I could have spent a lot more money on some really fancy packs but we don't go on super long hikes or walks ALL the time so I just needed something to that would be good for a Saturday or Sunday hike/walk.On average we use this pack about once or twice a week, so we aren't super hard on it but it's held up really solidly and we have yet to have ANY issues. There are no holes or tears or fraying and all the buckles and zippers still work like the first day we got it. When we started out with training I only put the empty pack on her because I didn't want to add additional stress to my growing dog. But now that she's full-grown we put full water bottles and any of her poop bags and other supplies we might need for a hike.Having a bag with a little added weight not only tires her out faster, but we really do notice an improved behavior with her attitude on walks. She's a good-natured dog and very attentive to our commands already, but when she sees me get the pack she stops and lets me saddle her up like a horse. She stays very still and is very patient with me tightening the buckles and getting everything put inside, she LOVES to carry her pack and tends to "prance" a lot more when she's got it on like she's doing something super important.Overall this was a great investment, I haven't noticed any rubbing or anything on longer hikes but I'm also super careful to keep each side of the pack evenly balanced, that's very important otherwise the pack will go lopsided. I also make sure the straps aren't too tight or too loose and often check them throughout the hike to make sure nothing has come undone. This pack is NOT waterproof so if there is something inside the pockets you don't want submerged then I don't suggest letting your dog swim with it on or anything. You could easily add some sort of water repellent to the material for rainy days but we don't keep anything inside that we worry about getting wet and it's a canvas material so it does try pretty easily if you open it all up and leave it out.
