Review on KeylessOption Black Shell Case and Button Pad for Replacement 5 Button Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob by Marc Hawkins

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't; need "Macgyvering "

I received this part to replace a key fob housing on a 2011 Buick Enclave because my key fob didn't have enough range was shining and you had to press the buttons really hard to get it to work. I received this key fob (body and buttons only) and it turned out to be an exact match. So I was surprised when I moved my existing key fob's electronic "guts" into the new key fob case, tried it and it didn't work. I read the comments and saw where others had to change something. I took a closer look and noticed that there is an area on the back where the battery enters that had a shallow rectangular groove on my original key fob. On the new case it was just a small circle (sorry I didn't remember to take a picture of it before the change). So first I tested everything in the new case except I used the old case back and it worked fine. This confirmed to me that the problem was the difference in that notch as everything else looked the same. I used a jeweler's screwdriver as a chisel to cut this circle into a rectangle and at first it seemed to work. However, my wife took the car that evening and it didn't work at all - she had to use her key. It works out. I don't know what happened to the back, but it's not.

Pros
  • This is a replacement part that is identical in form and function to the original
Cons
  • Piggy Bank Price
