We purchased this on August 6, 2020 for our cat and today’s date is August 11, 2021. This fountain still works the same as it did the first day!We need to refill it once a week for a single cat household. It requires a weekly cleaning as well. The filter needs to be replaced once every 4 weeks or it gets slimy; just make sure to stick to 4 weeks and you’ll be fine. The black sponge that keeps solids from getting into the motor now needs replacing after 1 year of use and has started depositing little black specks in the water. That’s a cheap and easy replacement, though! It only takes about 10 minutes to fully clean every component of this fountain, which takes far less time than having to refill a water bowl every day.The fountain is very quiet, as well. It gets louder when it gets low on water, so make sure to always keep it filled. Running the motor without water could also damage the motor.My cat also likes the fountain, and we can tell she drinks a lot more water now than she did with stagnant water. The only thing we don’t like is the light; it works well but is too bright to keep in a bedroom.
