I am writing this review almost 3 years after the original purchase. I am giving this unit 1 star only for its durability and the customer service I have received from tectectec. The device itself worked well while it worked. Anytime a playmate had a range finder, I would compare my readings to theirs. It was always within 1 yard of what they had and usually their unit cost twice as much as mine. So the accuracy and ease of use is great. The problem was that it just didn't work anymore. I don't play golf that much and I estimate I played less than 20 rounds of nine holes before it stopped scanning and recognizing a target. After several email exchanges, TecTecTec sent me a brand new unit last year to replace the broken one. The second device was used even less than the first. I estimate he used it less than 10 times before something inside the device started rattling. The device has never been dropped, has a protective rubber cover and has been abused while driving in a golf cart the most of any range finder on earth. I contacted TecTecTec again, provided all proof of purchase, went through all my troubleshooting steps and even provided them with a video showing the problem upon request. Their response was that my second unit did not have its own warranty and they only honored the original unit's warranty. In return, they offered me a discount on the third range finder. They also overpriced what they were offering on their website and the discount resulted in a $20 rebate. known company product. I don't usually take the time to write reviews like this, but I often read them before buying any products and usually 1 star is just for someone having a bad experience. But with that in mind I was sent not one but two faulty products and I warn any of you who buy this product that they are failing and TecTecTec were not supporting their product when the second 'new' device failed.
