I bought this scale with the idea of pairing it with a Dymo Turbo label maker. Although I haven't bought the latter yet, the scale works great when it's on. If you connect to a computer and download the free Dymo scale program, you can get the cost of most letters sent through the mail in the United States. I wasn't disappointed with the scale but thought the Dymo program I downloaded from the website could be more user friendly. If you want to make sure you're sending a letter at the correct rate and know the maximum first class letter weight, you don't actually need to connect to the Dymo website to use their scale. However, I believe most users will choose to sign up for a free program to keep up with price increases and email rule changes. I could also see this being used for weighing items like groceries for those who want to make sure they are following a recipe or weight loss program they are on. The ability to place an object and then set its weight to zero when adding elements to the object can be of great use.
