My truck just won't tow my trailer over the hill like I'd like it to. I poked around and this seemed like the easiest way to get extra performance with minimal risk. In my research there are four things to do to increase performance - improve air intake, improve exhaust, change/reprogram engine computer, upgrade injectors (for a diesel engine). The air intake upgrade was by far the simplest and easiest route to improvement. This Banks block improves air intake in three ways - it adds a second large hole in the air intake/filter box (my '05 GMC had one pressed against the fender as original equipment), the filter area is larger than original. and the airflow from the intake/filter box to the turbine is smoothed to avoid friction losses. Haven't pulled my trailer over a mountain with it yet, but it was super easy to set up - a true pull and swap setup. The kit even included a custom-sized bit needed to disassemble a portion of an existing assembly. The instructions were clear and complete. The filter is a cleanable type - you never have to buy a new one just to throw it away. Based on what I've seen on the OE, particularly the tight fit of the old intake to the fender, the airflow entering the engine should be greatly improved.
