I use them to make lamps for a customer. Compare 50 cents or a dollar to the $5-10 I spent on components from Anvil or Ward, or $3-5 on tube fittings which are still made in China at the hardware store and it is easy to see why they are so popular. As mentioned in other reviews, these whistles can actually be destroyed by "pulling". I put this in quotes because real NPT water pipes have fairly deep threads and the castings are pretty strong so it looks like you're over-tightening the fittings, but you're not, they're just very thin and flat. . If you are new to this, please grab some pipe wrenches before delving into it. :) The adjustability of the fittings is good, but what is not very pleasant is that the threads are very fine, which makes a tight fit difficult. On the other hand, the flanges on the floor are great.
