Speaking of value for money! This little champion delivers an incredible sound. It's smooth, very detailed, not tiring at all. Amazing soundstage. More or less perfect. You hear a familiar song and you hear details, nuances you've never heard before. Literally on every known song. It's like hearing them for the first time. One thing is for sure, it drastically outperforms the (relatively decent I think) DAC in my mid-range 2016 Denon receiver. I came to this product after being intrigued by the idea of a headless music player for my living room. . I wanted to eliminate the need to use the TV to play digital files. I did some research, looked at Volumio etc before settling on Rasplex. This is the Pi operating system which is a Plex client. I knew I wanted a "real" DAC. Thought I would have to pay a lot more. Once I hooked up this DAC, installed the Rasplex on a micro SD card and ran it (you need to change a few lines in the configuration file on the PI boot disk to be able to select Hifiberry as the output in the Rasplex settings), it was a dream. Pi with hifiberry plus is behind the books on the shelf. RCA cable from him to the receiver. I control the Rasplex music player with the Plex app on my phone. The Rasplex has wireless access to music files that are actually stored in another room on my media server computer. The TV stays off. I'm amazed at how smoothly it all works. Just in case this info is helpful, I hooked up my Pi to a Denon AVR-S910W receiver and Polk Signature S55 series speakers (which sound AND look absolutely great - if you will). a fairly compact, beautiful floorstanding speaker with stunning sound that won't require you to take out a second mortgage - they should be on your shortlist) and a Polk PSW505 subwoofer (musically the weak link - I'll do the balancing act). keep it low to add a little cuteness while minimally affecting the actual audible sound). With this setup I have an absolutely incredible sound. Many people say that this product can compete with much more expensive DACs - I totally believe it. For the Pi and that you're under $100. The offer is twice as expensive.
