Review on Fel-Pro MS 90610 Intake Manifold Gasket Set: Ensuring Superior Seal and Performance by Vic Alexander

Fel-Pro - No Compromises

When you purchase this gasket you are likely replacing an Isuzu Rodeo, Trooper or Axiom thermostat or your Vauxhall Frontera or Opel Antera with 6VE1W V-6 engine. Let me give you some advice: 1. You must remove the entire intake manifold. What does disconnecting the fuel lines mean? Currently these clamps are thermally annealed and not as resilient as they used to be. Do yourself a favor and order a set of hose clamps and just arrange a replacement.2. Do not install the intake manifold upside down. A lot of carbon has accumulated in the EGR valve (that canister on the back left) which can escape and seal the valve. In fact, now is the time to replace the EGR valve. But if you're not ready for that, buy a can of meerschaum, fill one of your wife's metal skillets to the 2-inch mark, and place the EGR valve face down in the meerschaum. Dissolve dirt and soot and restore normal EGR valve operation 3. All heater hoses are old and stuck in the aluminum manifold. Order everything and schedule an exchange. that single hose under the intake manifold 4. The coolant lines that go to the heater core run to the rear of the engine and are held incredibly close to the firewall by 12mm bolts. You have to remove them to get the thermostat out. Once you do that, the 21mm O-ring that seals the coolant tube to the adapter tube crumbles to dust like Thanos just snapped his fingers. So, go to the auto parts store in the "Help" section. Don't buy $3 Buna-M o-rings. Viton O-rings for $10. They can withstand heat and chemicals and survive your car. The replacement will actually be around 22mm long, so it will be tight to put it in there.5. The rubber vacuum hoses are old and rotten. Just schedule an order for silicone replacement lines so you can swap them out on the go.6. Do not buy a poor quality replacement thermostat. Get quality. You don't want to go back to that engine in five years because you had to save $5 on the aftermarket. Remember that no matter how difficult this job is, you generally have a very easy to repair and reliable car. So do the work right and you'll never have to do it again.
