Review on πŸ”Œ Cable Matters SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to HDMI Adapter (Black) - Stream Windows up to 1440p by Blake Larson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Didn't get the right product initially.

I received a USB to HDMI adapter that doesn't say "Cable Matters" on the product or packaging; The instructions say FrescoLogic and the @outlook.com support email is patchy. DVI-HDMI adapter was not included. Doesn't look like the pictures posted by other reviewers. Billed by Revain, sold to Cable Matters. Revain quickly replaced him. In the past I've tried using inexpensive options, but they've failed miserably. The update rate is much slower than advertised and barely working drivers and their developers are opaque. This is a serious security risk. Even if the driver itself isn't malicious, it may contain vulnerabilities and it may not be possible to find out or hold the company liable if it's based in a different jurisdiction (if you can even find them!). One should never be too careful. This adapter worked when I first plugged it in. Windows 10 automatically installs the appropriate drivers. Other options only started the monitor after logging in, this product worked without any problems and starts at Windows boot. The only possible problem is that I was only able to get up to 1080p with Windows 10's drivers. I haven't tried the driver provided by the company, so this can be fixed, but it's not a problem for me. Will be updated after reviewing the company's software.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
