I have my TV plugged into the master and my DVD player, games console and AVR plugged into a controlled outlet. When I turn off the TV, the peripherals still get power. It turns them off, but they still have power (the red LED is on to indicate power is available). This was intended to reduce the vampires' workload by removing power from the controlled outlets, but this is not happening. There is a "Sensitivity" switch, but changing the position of the switch had no effect. This is no different from their total shutdown. This saves time, but not energy. I'd still have to unplug the entire power strip to save power, so it's really no better than a regular power strip.
