Revised with update. The seller contacted me and asked me to rate the updated version of this oil filter wrench. I agreed and they sent me the latest version (July 2019). This is a much better product and I would recommend it. The original version of the key was a lightweight piece of aluminum that broke instantly. The updated version is made of steel (a magnet sticks to it) and is much stronger. I tested it and couldn't break it (much more than removing the filter) in the torque range I tried. I've attached photos of the original (left, black, removed) and the updated version (silver). You can buy the updated version with confidence. The first rating was one star based on the first glitch. The original text follows: DO NOT BUY. It's made out of inferior "cast metal" and broke on the first attempt to use it. I bought this tool to change the oil in my Toyota SUVs (13 year old Land Cruiser and 13 year old 4Runner). The oil filter style requires a special wrench and this item was the right design. I started with the 4Runner and after removing the skid plates, draining the oil and draining the filter canister per factory procedures, I put this wrench on the filter housing and attempted to remove the filter. As soon as I applied force to loosen the filter, the part the ratchet was attached to broke off. Unfortunately I bought it a few months ago so I can't return it. Please do yourself a favor and don't buy this poor quality filter wrench. Before you spend your hard-earned cash, find one that's made from the finest materials.
