This is a comprehensive colored pencil set with a large selection of secondary and tertiary colours. The pigmentation of each wax-based pencil basically corresponds exactly to the color indicator on the outside of the barrel. The saturation of the pigment in each base consistency depends on each pencil. Some of the more pigmented colors are smooth and creamy, while others are chalky or streaked in lighter or mid-tones. Some of these pens do not have a consistent color across the core of the pen. For example, #4515 has multiple striped red-brown streaks between paint layers in the color swatch chart above. Could it be that I received a batch that was of poor quality or was stored in a warehouse with fluctuating temperatures for too long before purchase? Otherwise this is a wonderful set of crayons. As this is a wax based kit, keep in mind that the finished artwork will be shiny. However, I don't think they will be a complete replacement for the creaminess of an oil based crayon set. Different color distribution, no straight-line one-size-fits-all formula for each pen. Because of this, the finish of completed projects changes. Not recommended for professional use.
