Very comfortable from the start. Look, I'm a veteran and ex-paratrooper. I've worn everything down to Gen 3 NVGs that cost the same as your car. This is NOT THAT. No way. But for beginners who want to peer into their fields at night without spending thousands of dollars, or want to see what potential wildlife surrounds them on a hike, this is the perfect beginner scope. I recommend adding an additional/external IR source. While the IR on the unit works great even at around 100-125 feet, I can't imagine it seriously illuminating anything further than that. Honestly, with a 3x starting point and up to 4x digital zoom, it's unlikely you'll be able to see anything beyond 200ft at all. For this ad that claims you can see up to 300 meters at night, that's crazy. In broad daylight you can't even see at 300 meters at noon. But for a beginner's electronic night monocular, that's quite enough.
