This is not a kryptonite bike lock. It's more of a subtle reminder, hmm, hey, don't leave with my stuff. While the cable itself would require a fair amount of force to cut through the plastic plate, the small metal-tipped locking inserts are weak points and don't inspire confidence. The connection between cable and locking mechanism seems particularly unfounded. The first device I received could not turn the key to remove the lock from the cable. He turned around as if full of sand, but didn't let go. I had to return the first set. When I received the replacement I sprayed the lock straight away and it completely changed the way it worked. The key actually turns right instead of left to unlock the lock, perhaps the arrow in the instructions is meant to indicate barrel rotation. Again, this set will likely fend off the occasional klepto, but a determined thief and a good hard tug will likely take your stuff with a bang.
