Review on Lang Tools TU 30A Compression Tester by Eric Carr

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice kit, false hype

I used this to test compression on a 5.0 liter 302ci Ford V8. Worked great and appears to be well made. The gauge comes with a nice soft rubber grip that seems to take a hit if dropped. The product is great, but there are some suspicions associated with its sale. I believe they sent me a slightly newer or older version of the kit pictured. It looks different from the picture and comes with slightly different components. Here's what I have: - 300psi 2.5" gauge with quick disconnect (air hose type) - short M14 thread for quick disconnect hose - long M14 thread for quick disconnect hose (the one I used) - M12 and M16 for quick disconnect hose - 24" Quick Connect Extension Hose - 200psi, 1.5" gauge for small engines. M14 or M18 threaded connection (no quick connect). — M10 short thread adapter with optional extension that connects to any gauge. - Pack of spare gaskets etc. From the description you would think you could use a 300psi gauge with M18 threads but you can't It doesn't concern me it may concern you What worries me most is the statement that it is made in the USA The picture shows a small American flag on the case where I assume it says 'Made in USA', I didn't have one and it doesn't say 'Made in USA' anywhere company bears d en name Star Products in Racine, Wisconsin. I could not find any information about the company on the internet. and it seems as if they don't exist at all. Many companies exist in the US and are still doing things in China. If you are interested in buying an American I would look elsewhere. One final note: Don't believe Amazon's "only one left in stock" nonsense. He said before and after I bought one.
