A useful tool for small electronics repair

I really liked this mat for repairing an iphone. Probably my favorite part was the segmented screw cups. I think this was a much better choice than an all magnetic base. My magnetized screwdriver easily picked up the screw whereas a magnetized base may made it more difficult to remove small screws. The silicone mat does not conduct electricity so I felt fairly confident that components wouldn't be damage by a stray static electricity spark. I recommend saving the flat box it was shipped in for easy storage unless you choose to roll it up. The box adhesive opened without damage and still would adhere when reused. I'm sure the silicone would also be useful for soldering. While I didn't utilize every feature of this mat, I was pleased with it for what I needed and would recommend it.

Pros
  • The mat is resistant to chemical and oil spills, adding to its durability
Cons
  • May not be suitable for use with certain materials, such as ceramics
