This teapot looks beautiful. It cooks quickly and pours easily without dripping. The inner surface is a seamless stainless steel surface. The kettle is stable and stays cold on the outside. The lid is spring-loaded and feels solid. The hole is big enough for a medium sized hand if you want to clean the inside or cook your hands. The installation instructions say that the water should be boiled and drained twice. I would recommend doing this three times as I found the third boil still seemed a bit odd. Thereafter, boiled water was always free from undesirable taste or odor. The kettle is about 20% wider and taller than other 1.5 liter kettles I've had in the past, which isn't a problem but was unexpected. The auto shutoff works, but it takes a while to activate, likely because the switch is down instead of up. As other reviewers note, there's a small piece of plastic in the lid hinge, but it's so small it's hard to see how it could cause real water pollution. makes it surprisingly troublesome to move the base since the cable doesn't stay locked in its channel. It also seems kinda too long when unwound halfway. If this kettle works the way it did for the first few weeks I would give it 4 stars and a strong recommendation. Unfortunately, as reported by several other reviewers, after about three weeks mine started smelling like toxic burning plastic coming out of the handle when the kettle was turned on. The power button stem also changed from clear to cloudy, which I think is related. As this seems to be more than a one off issue it is difficult to recommend this kettle at this time as my #1 rule for dummies is don't burn the house down.
