I was looking for a sharpening stone for kitchen knives. What I was looking for was something affordable that I could use every 3-6 months on my three most used knives. As someone who loves to cook and prepare, I spend about 5-6 hours a week on my knives so they wear out quite a bit. However, I don't sharpen knives or work in the kitchen, so I don't need a professional stone set to cut sashimi or anything like that. If it helps, the main knives I sharpen with this set (already used several times) are Shun, Winco and Victorinox. Works great for everyone. If you've ever sharpened knives with a whetstone, this will be easy and work great. It is perfect for the home user, right priced and meets the needs. You should be able to go from fairly dull to razor sharp in about 15-30 minutes for each blade, depending on your process/pressure/blade/dullness.
