Good GPS, not perfect, but then what?

Love my Garmin Nuvi 2699LMTHD GPS! Yes, it could have been better, but then again, it's perfect. I bought a rebuilt model to save some money and it paid off. My first unit started failing a month to a year ago. The company refused to provide traffic information, believing the car adapter to be an inappropriate device. Garmin's service was fantastic and initially they offered a free car power adapter but it ended up not working. However, as soon as I reported that the car power adapter didn't solve the problem, they offered a free replacement with free shipping both ways! Keep it up Garmin. However, I bought an extra guarantee from Square Trade to cover things just in case - it paid off on other things I bought. I liked this model for the 6-inch screen, lifetime map and traffic subscriptions, and Garmin's solid reputation. I tend to research products to death before deciding to buy them because I hate the thought of not getting what I paid for and the inconvenience and frustration that comes with buying lemons. I put off buying a GPS for two years because the data I found convinced me that the technology wasn't perfect enough to offer a reliable product. Reviews in 2015 convinced me that some GPS devices are suitable and worth the investment. After purchasing this device I'm convinced I made the right choice, it's not perfect but pretty close, there's nothing that some software algorithms can't fix. The traffic reports aren't bad, but I don't rely on them as the sole source. I check Google Maps and Waze before heading out for the DC Beltway or Corridor RT295/395 challenge each morning and evening. After consulting these two sources, my route is determined, then I use Garmin to provide real-time information. Garmin usually takes too long to report lag after launch, but once it does, they usually get it right. In some cases I've used it to avoid long delays and on several occasions it's helped me perform short deviations in real time. He mostly reports that I'm on the "best way possible" but I don't always think I'm that way. One of its weaknesses is that it seems to know all the country roads I know of, or at least doesn't suggest those routes unless the main routes are really busy. However, it does a good job and has certainly reduced my stress levels by giving me a good estimate of my arrival time. The interface is mostly intuitive, although some settings will require some experimentation to fully understand. Garmin as a large database that can be updated simply by connecting to Garmin Express on a PC or Mac. The process is painless, but interestingly, the Garmin Express app requires more frequent updates than the Nuvi. The Four Square locator app installed on the device works well, but ironically doesn't always find the closest office - I don't know why it's telling me to walk 200 miles to find the nearest grocery store. It's still helpful and pointed me to new restaurants and places near home that I didn't know about. All in all, I recommend the Nuvi 2699LMTHD. This is a reliable performer. Easy to use, voice command works well enough. Good, free traffic reports (for the lifetime of the device). Lifetime free map updates. Press "Go" before the new suggested route is fully loaded, as the software will crash and the device will restart (Garmin hasn't fully fixed this, but it's not as sensitive as it was a year ago). Entering an address can sometimes be a bit cumbersome. , can't always find the right street, or autocomplete prevents you from typing in full - rarely happens, but definitely annoying when traffic is slowly detected after turning it on - can lead you in the wrong direction before it corrects itself and Puts you on a better route Buy me another Garmin GPS.
