The seal was too loose.

Gasket was too loose and didn't fit properly. The valve cover could not be installed without the gasket falling out. Tried several times and each time the pads fell out easily. Had to go to a dealership down the road to get a proper gasket that would fit securely. This was for a 2005 Ford Focus.
