My sister's PT Cruiser overheated. I've tried all the simple regular repairs like the thermostat. Twice after minor repairs I was sure it was fixed. I could let it idle for several hours with no problems. But during a long test drive at high speed, it overheated. I finally realized that there were small bubbles. This is much easier to see with one of those funnels that go where the lid would normally be. As the funnel filled with water, I could see a constant stream of bubbles. The cylinder head gasket is the main job on this car. That day I almost drove the car to a junkyard. But I decided to fix it. I ended up replacing not only the head gasket, but also the timing belt, water pump, all the pulleys, all the gaskets, etc. It was a big undertaking that I spent many days on. I was devastated when after all this work the car was still overheating. It seems that when it overheated, the block or head broke. Sigh. I thought about it for a few days and decided to try and stop the leak. To my surprise, the thing actually works. I ran the procedure twice (by twice I mean I ran it for 15 minutes as recommended, then let it cool and then ran it again for 15 minutes. I didn't need to add any extra leak stop.) of the cool down, I would attach hopper and after look for bubbles. After thinking "maybe" the first time, I saw some blisters. (Or maybe not.) After the second time, I didn't see any more blisters. During the subsequent long drive on a very hot day with the air conditioning on, the temperature in the car remained normal. IMPRESSIVE! I am a retired mechanic. Normally I would never recommend such a product. But in this case, it saved the vehicle from disposal.
