Review on 🌊 Atlantic Wave Wire CD Tower - Steel and Black Cherry Wood CD Holder, PN1316 - Holds up to 110 CDs by Chris Cruz

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Mixed 3 - above average design but WARNING: unsatisfactory fit, quite difficult to assemble

This is the third one I bought because I like the design and the price, but they are made in China with sub-American Standard manufactured tolerances on machine tools and poor factory quality control. There are three major parts that appear to be from different lines and just don't go together. I give 4 stars for design, 4 stars for stability and functionality, but ZERO stars for build quality. When you insert the bottom piece of wire into the base, you'll find that it fits into the holes in the base, but not the center of the holes. Plastic fasteners require the inserted cores to be screwed in correctly and without stripping. The included tool makes it easy to remove threads in soft plastic, but this can be done with patience and firmness, but not excessive force. Apply force to the center of the wire, not the plastic attachment, or the threads will snap. Two can do that better than one. After that, you need to connect the two wired nodes together. Again, good setup is required, which is difficult as there are four wires to connect to the receivers and you can't run one too far and the others at too great an angle. This too requires patience and firmness, and four hands are better than two. The small decorative balls above are not good. Of my three units, 12 balls, only two have really big holes in the wooden balls. One was too big and wobbled at the top with no rubbing on the sides. The remaining 11, including all four, were too small. For the first block I bought, I went to a carpenter friend of mine, borrowed his vise and drill bits, and made the holes big enough. Now all balls are thrown without loss of aesthetics. This is a very nice design and it's a shame that the manufacturing tolerances are so out of line.
