Lasts a year if used every day

Poor cheap cheap quality. I walk through them on two antique doors of my house. Suddenly the knob turns, but you're locked in or out. The inner spring breaks. The originals in my house only lasted over a hundred years. If you can get a year's rebate on those "prime-line" imports of junk you use every day, that's almost right. Keep a table knife or other thin knife handy on either side of the door so you can pry the slide latch enough to open the door if this happens. Consider what you paid. Franklin Mfg. does the same thing, also imported, for about the same price, but replaces it if you send it back with a dollar to an address in upstate New York. It lasts about the same as this brand.
