A good winch with some precautions.

I put this on my 16ft fishing boat. It came with an extra switch for the steering wheel, which was nice. There are some features that can be corrected if the operator is aware. First is security. The auto-deployment is truly amazing! You need to know that sometimes this winch turns automatically by itself (really scary). There are two things to do that are standard on big ships anyway. 1. An additional kill switch for this winch is a good idea. This prevents automatic deployment errors. 2. Pin for fixing the anchor during movement. I recommend a 1/4" diameter release pin with a 3.5" grip. It goes straight into the holder. You can also use a rope to tie the anchor as shown in my picture, but a pin is better for towing. If you're going with a dowel, get a 5-6 inch stem anchor. This will align the ring on the anchor with the security pin holes on the bracket. In my opinion a 6 inch shaft would be better. It's also good practice to secure the anchor line so that you can secure it nearby. This winch is not strong enough for heavy pulling, so make sure you release the anchor before pulling the winch. Use a shackle to loosen the anchor or your winch won't last long.

Cons
