Review on Samshow Fermentation Kit - Includes 4 NonSlip Grip Glass Weights and 4 Stainless Steel Lids with Airlocks for Wide Mouth Mason Jars Ferments Such As kimchi, Sauerkraut, etc by Chris Riley

Nice little kit. for home brewing and winemaking

Pretty much everything you need to ferment cabbage, kimchi, and any other pickles you dream of. Just grab a few wide-mouth jars and grocery store ingredients and you're ready to ferment. This is a convenience purchase. It's possible you can get each of these parts individually from your local brewery and maybe save $5 if you're lucky enough to have one nearby. But even then you'll probably still need to drill a clean hole in the metal caps to then insert a rubber grommet, which may or may not have a snap-on rubber cap like this - if you have a drill bit, right size bit, right socket size, etc. Or you can get this little kit knowing that the locks will mate perfectly with the bushing that comes with it and that the hole won't rust because you didn't drill it clean enough. In the past I've struggled with makeshift weights that didn't effectively cover pickles, causing some of them to float up and in danger of spoiling. I would search the yard or creek beds for stones of the right size, or I would try to break a wine bottle and pick up a piece big enough to use as a weight, being careful not to cut myself on it. These smooth, round glass weights are perfect for wide-mouthed glasses with a comfortable grip. They greatly simplify the process and ensure a higher success rate for your fermentation projects. I read in other reviews that the packaging left a lot to be desired. I was lucky enough to receive the package with all parts intact, but I agree there was little more than a little bit of bubble wrap to keep the airlocks from collapsing in transit. If you are approaching a deep fermentation stage, you can probably buy these parts in bulk elsewhere for a better price. But when you're dipping into the brine, so to speak, or need a gift idea for an aspiring culinary adventurer who hasn't yet experienced the pride of homemade fermented treats, this set offers a convenient all-in-one solution. an experience.
