Review on 🧡 SINGER 00290 Self-Threading Hand Sewing Needles, Assorted Pack of 15 by Angela Rodriguez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Useful for those who can't find small pinholes

I teased my husband when he first needed reading glasses... until I needed them, I realized it wasn't was funny. One of the biggest problems I now have to see up close - even with reading glasses - is threading needles. Whether by hand or with a sewing machine, I usually have to try a few times before threading through the hole. This is SO disappointing! These Singer self-threading hand needles aren't perfect, but they help a lot. You simply pull the thread through the groove at the top of the needle and pull it down into the eye. Depending on the type of thread and needle you are using, sometimes the thread will snap when you try to thread it through the groove. However, I've learned to reckon with it occasionally. I always thread the needle towards the end of the thread and not in the middle so as not to waste a lot of thread if it breaks. These Singer needles come in a cheap plastic case with a needle set. They line up a small, hard-to-reach hole with a compartment to pull the needle out (see image). It would be better to somehow mark this hole, especially considering that people using these self-threading needles often have poor vision at close range. If you are not careful, the needles can accidentally slip out of this hole. Personally, I only keep a few pins on a pincushion. Although Singer is an American company, the needles are made in China. The price of Revain was significantly cheaper than my local sewing store. Overall I would recommend.

Pros
  • Arts, Crafts and Sewing
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging
